The Döttingen Wine Cooperative has been around since 1912 – and much has changed since then. What began as a traditional consumer and agricultural cooperative has grown into a small, family-run organization dedicated to high-quality wine and grape production. Our grapes are still harvested by hand, with the help of many passionate volunteers. For us, producing outstanding wine goes hand in hand with preserving our unique vineyard landscape and fostering a strong community spirit. We take pride in our mix of generations – and we firmly believe that together, we are stronger.
Program:
Welcome to our historic wine press house, built in 1869. Here, you’ll be equipped with pruning shears and other essential tools. We’ll introduce you to the Döttingen Winegrowers’ Cooperative and our beautiful region. From there, a shuttle will take you to the vineyard. Once there, we split into small groups to harvest grapes under the guidance of one of our team members. For lunch, we’ll serve a traditional winemaker’s sausage made from an old village butcher’s recipe, or – for vegetarians – a vegetable burger created by our cellar master. On the side: baked potatoes and fresh salad. Coffee and the famous Aargau-style carrot cake (“Rüeblichueche”) round off the meal. Drinks are provided: wine and water in abundance, and for children, grape juice and apple spritzer. In the afternoon, you’ll get a chance to experience the unique atmosphere of our wine cellar. You’re welcome to lend a hand with any ongoing work – and if the timing is right, even stomp grapes with your feet! In case of unexpected bad weather, this part of the program will be moved to the morning.
